UFS provides young adults with the opportunity to understand the diverse needs of the underprivileged by providing them with a hands-on service experience. Volunteer opportunities include:
  • Montana (Blackfeet Reservation) – High school volunteers learn about the Blackfeet history and culture while providing service to the local community;
  • Morocco – volunteers participate in rural health clinics, schools, orphanages and farming activities.
  • Texas – volunteers serve the migrant and refugee community.

Prior to their departure, UFS provides volunteers with the option to fundraise for their individual trip costs by assisting them in setting up personal donation websites. After the volunteers return home, they are required to prepare a trip presentation documenting their experience abroad that is shared with their local communities. They may also support one or more projects that address one of the social, economic, education or health challenges they observed during their service experience. This enables volunteers to maintain their relationship with the communities they served by collectively fundraising for projects that serve as a source of sustainable change.
