Our United For Service volunteer team traveled to rural villages in southwest Morocco including the city of Agadir where we participated in mobile health clinics and dental hygiene workshops, taught in a village elementary school, worked at an orphanage and shadowed doctors at a private clinic. As a result of these diverse experiences, we gained great insight into the different health, educational, and economic needs of the communities we served. Check out our video!
After the completion of the service program, our volunteer team has committed to raising funds for the following projects and we are looking for your support to help make an impact on the lives of hundreds of individuals in the communities we visited in Morocco:
Project fundraising goal – $7,500:
1) Water well construction in Riad village – $3,000;
2) Education endowment in Ighil and Akhsmo villages – $2,000;
3) Supplies and expenses for the Tazzanine Association orphanage in Agadir – $2,500

Water Well Project in Riad Village
Help nourish a village and receive lasting rewards.
Why is the well needed?
Our stay in the villages was a very humbling experience as we gained an appreciation for the preservation of scarce resources such as water. Due to a recent drought in Morocco, the villages in the southwest have suffered a shortage of water, which has limited their sustenance. The village relies on rainwater, which has been limited and is usually collected using cisterns on the roof. The well will be a valuable resource and a means of gaining economic independence and self-sustainability through farming.
How will your donation help?
All donations will go towards the construction of the water well that will provide the people of the village with access to clean water. The location of the well has already been identified and an initial study has been conducted by a local geologist. Donating for the installation of a water well in Riad village will be an act of continuous charity (sadaqah jaria). Please help us reach our target goal of $3,000 and give the gift of clean water to the people of Riad village!
Education Endowment
Sponsor a teacher and students to build many futures.
What is the Education Endowment?
UFS successfully launched its first education enrichment program in Ighil village in 2012. Since then, more than fifty students, ages seven to 16, have received an education on all levels of mathematics and languages such as English, French, and Arabic. By providing the program within the village, many young children and girls are able to attend school nearby without having to travel far distances where many of the government schools are located. In the past, UFS has raised money for sponsoring teacher salaries, building a classroom, and providing students with school supplies in the village regions of Ighil, Assaka, and Riad.
How will your donation help?
A portion of the funds will go towards sponsoring a teacher who dedicates her time to providing instruction to the children. The annual salary to support the teacher is $700 and the balance of the donations will be used to improve the classroom infrastructure and provide new school supplies and proper living accommodations for orphan students at a school hostel in Akhsmo village. Please help us reach our target goal of $2,000 to support the education of children in the villages!
Tazzanine Association: Orphanage in Agadir
Help better the lives of hundreds of orphans with your generosity.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together. – Narrated by Sahl bin Sa’d
What is the Tazzanine Association?
The Tazzanine Association is a non-profit organization established in 2003 for the benefit of the abandoned children from the nursery of Hassan ll Hospital, a public hospital we visited in Agadir. Currently, the orphanage is home to 90 children and over 30 committed staff members who provide 24-hour care for the children. During our time at Tazzanine, we were amazed by the tremendous energy, passion, and love the nursery staff members demonstrated while caring for each child.
The orphanage provides every child with food, proper hygiene, clothing, school fees, medical/paramedical care as well as social outings to beaches, restaurants, and also hosts religious celebrations. Since Tazzanine’s inception, hundreds of children who were once abandoned have now been given a home, ample love and support, and a promise of a bright future.
How will your donation help?
Your donations would greatly benefit the orphanage in supporting the salaries of the staff, maintenance of the nursery, medicines, school fees and supplies, specialist fees (psychomotor, speech) and food supplies. Please help us reach our target goal of $2,500 and join us in ensuring good health, education, and a bright future for Tazzanine’s wonderful children!
Thank you for your generous support!
